Scott Nielsen
Scott Nielsen is the Communications Lead for OceanX Group which consults, designs, manufactures advanced underwater systems and structures to revolutionize technology for protecting our oceans. His responsibilities include strategic communications, public relations and promoting the efforts of technologists towards cleaning the plastic and removing waste from our oceans, beaches, and waterways. Scott Lives in San Francisco, CA U.S.A and spends lots of time with his family at the beach.
In addition to his work with OceanX Group, Scott serves as the Communications and Special Projects manager for the U.S. General Services Administration for the South West and Pacific region of the U.S. Prior to GSA, Scott lead a career in Communications for several agencies including, the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Scott taught journalism, communications and new media at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia, where he also received his Masters of Arts in Public Relations from 2006-2008. From 2002—2006, Scott served as a Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Air Force. His duty Assignments include Dover AFB, DE; Osan AB, Korea; and Rammstein AB, Germany.
